Gotta love Cliff Lee with the 1 stamina after being in the top-10 in IP, CG and shut-outs 6 times.

Fuck Markus.

I really dont understand some of these ratings. If they are based off historical stats then why are they so screwy?

I think it's laziness and lack of dedication.

The issue with historical has always been that offensive and pitching (Stuff, Control, Movement) have always been based on the entire career of the player, but fielding and stamina are only based on the year the player was created.  This is then reduce if a player plays a limited number of games or innings.  So, Cliff Lee pitching two games for 10.1 innings in 2002 makes him a reliever.  It's just poor design that hasn't been changed in 20 years, because it doesn't raise revenue like Perfect Team.

only fix would be to edit pitcher stamina... that seems to be the biggest problem with the database.

and it wouldn't have to be every pitcher, just the egregious ones who came up as relievers before becoming starters

(I wonder what the game thinks of Earl Weaver's starters, who were all MRs first...)

Yes, having edited pitchers for the original CDL, it sucked.

For example, in this class I would say stamina needs to be adjusted for:

Hal Brown, Gerry Staley, Elizardo Ramirez, Morrie Martin, Jay Hook, Cliff Lee, Rick Sutcliffe & Johnny Gee

with Lee & Sutcliffe being the biggest screwups (i.e. I could live with the others)

But you edited EVRYTHING correct?

Just editing stamina means it can be quicker and dirtier.

Bumping Lee up to Kershaw's stamina makes him a 5-star SP

they each pitch about 6.5 IP per appearance

I'd be for it.
If it's not too much administrative work, that is.

You could always just add a standard 5 to every RP-who-should-be-a-SP's stamina in the draft class to at least make them a viable starter.
A quick scan through would pull out the obvious ones.
GM griping could bring attention to the others.

And of course it could really only be done in future draft classes.
If Nolan Ryan was a viable SP, he wouldn't have gone #14..... and what's the deal with his magical one-season jump in control talent of 4 points?  WTF??

You definitely wouldn't want to make it too tedious for sure. But a quick glance at the most glaring issues in the draft shouldn't take that long.

Any changes to the pool need to be made before the draft starts to keep an even footing. Can't change Lee's or Sutcliffe's stamina halfway through the draft

But it doesn't seem too burdensome, in part because of league size

I did edit everything and Ibthink for the CCB, I ended up just editing the stamina as well. since it is so egregious. Still was not my favorite part of running a league
