Completed Trades / PHL/SF (Processed)« on: December 25, 2020, 09:00:54 PM »
We're getting pretty desperate for some O....
as per post it: PHL sends 2056 1st and 2057 2nd SF sends Magglio Ordonez ... this is assuming we can still trade of course. This is my penance for picking Kevin Seitzer over Magglio in the '47 draft. 3
Trade Blocks / PHL« on: November 29, 2020, 11:29:41 PM »
So I have a pretty nice crew of SP's coming up, and I don't really need another 4-star SP, which is what I'm gonna be stuck drafting here....
So if anybody has a corner OF/1B/DH with some pop, 28 or younger (prospect ok too), to trade for one of these 4-star SP's (or anybody else of course) on the draft board, hit me up. I'll hold off on making my pick until the AM. 4

General Discussion / Gettysburg Eddie« on: October 31, 2020, 04:19:16 AM »
Eddie Plank deserves his own thread...
He finally retired this year after not making the big club out of spring training. His #23 was subsequently retired. He finished #1 all time in wins; #2 in K's, winning %; #2 (amongst SPs) in ERA, opponent OPS; #3 in WAR and IP. 19 seasons, and never had a WAR lower than 4.1, including his age 41 season. 25 playoff wins, 2 Cy Youngs, and 6 rings round out his career. It's no wonder we have a restaurant named after him... ![]() 7
General Discussion / HOF? or Cough?« on: October 23, 2020, 07:51:09 PM »
Since a bunch of guys are voting each season, I was wondering if anyone wanted to step out from behind the anonymity of the secret ballot to offer an argument against some of the greatest position players of all time....
The 3 best catchers of all time have barely cracked 50% of the votes, and all deserve to be there... Ranks amongst catchers: Piazza - #1 in WAR, batting avg, HR, RBI; #2 in runs; #3 in slugging, hits, doubles, walks, games. Snodgrass - #1 in OBP, runs, walks, doubles; #2 in WAR, hits, ABs; #3 in batting avg Munson - #1 in hits; #2 in batting avg, doubles, triples; #3 in WAR, runs, SBs Plus, Piazza ranks in the top 10 amongst ALL batters in batting avg and WAR, Snodgrass is in the top 10 in OBP, walks and doubles. Similar arguments can be made for Travis Fryman and George Brett Fryman is the all-time leader in WAR at SS (plus holds a crap-load of personal awards), and Brett was the all-time leader in several categories at the time of his retirement. So what gives? 8
General Discussion / Potential« on: August 08, 2020, 12:16:55 PM »
For the first 14 seasons, we were able to see when potential ratings are lower than current ratings.
This came in handy when drafting, allowing the gm to make an informed decision as to whether they wanted to draft a fully developed player knowing they were predestined for a collapse. Since we moved to 21, we are no longer able to see this. Sam says he doesn't see any changes on his end. Does anybody know if this feature was phased out of the game for 21? Or is it some default setting that Sam just isn't seeing? I'd rather not go on the ootp boards with this question. It would just be helpful to know in advance that your guy is going to crash at some point instead of it looking like a completely random hit out of left field. I know there will still be plenty of random hits, but this at least helped. 10

I'd trade Don Drysdale if I could get a youngish OF.

Trade Blocks / #5 Overall Pick« on: May 02, 2020, 02:53:53 PM »
I want a perennial all-star infielder and I'm willing to give up the #5 (likely future HOF'er) overall pick for him, could add picks if he's a young-sih future hall-of-famer.
I'll be out for a few hours, but pm's or slack will find me later.
