Tobin Raps San Diego for 5 Hits
Tuesday, June 9th, 2071
Getting 5 hits in a game has always been memorable feat in baseball. In the Colorado's 14-2 win over San Diego today, right fielder Jack Tobin was red-hot, scorching them for hit after hit at Rocky Mountain High.

"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax," Tobin said afterward. "I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I have to admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for five. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close."

Jack Tobin hit a solo-shot off Justin Verlander in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, singled in the 5th and singled in the 8th.

So far this year Tobin has hit .284 with 9 home runs, 30 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

Prior Razor-Sharp, Shuts Out San Francisco
Tuesday, June 9th, 2071
The San Francisco Giants had no answer today for Montreal Expos pitcher Mark Prior. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 3-0. San Francisco managed only 5 hits off Prior, who had 7 strikeouts.

The extraordinarily popular Prior got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.

"Expos fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."

This season Prior has a 6-2 record with a 2.86 ERA in 13 starts.
